"Thankyou Drop Bear Aware! I can't say enough to show my appreciation for the understanding and appreciation Drop Bear Aware has given me about the wild Australian bush."

"Not only did I gain an understanding of these magnificent but deadly creatures, but I had peace of mind during my travels in Australia. I definitely saw not one single drop bear during my visit and I feel this is largely thanks to Drop Bear Aware! All the best guys."

About Us

We are a group of Australians who have come together to provide support and awareness for visitors to Australia. We value our overseas tourists and want to do everything we can to avoid attacts here. Whilst Australians seem to be quite immune to attacks we have noticed some interesting patterns among visitors for a number of reasons, and would like to see a decline in the number of drop bear related incidents.

The History of Drop Bear Aware

It all started when Damien Thomas encountered a near death drop bear attack. Damien was originally from New Zealand and perhaps this is something which hightened the risk of an attack. Afterwards Damien started this drop bear awareness group in order to promote awareness and avoid similar attacks

"It was the most terrifying experience of my life and I would not want anyone to go through the same experience as me" - Damien Thomas

Started in 2006, the group is now over a thousand members and growing, and we are proud to say that we have not lost a single member to a drop bear attack since its forming several years ago, and we believe this is due partly to the excellent community and sharing of drop bear related information in Australia for its members

One of the most successful strategies is our annual Drop Bear Immersion Camp, where visitors can go to drop bear prone areas and practise their drop bear survival and avoidance skills. Again we have had a 100% survival rate although some fairly hairy close calls have been witnessed by some.

We have some great products on their way.
